New Letter Writing Interactive |

As a paper-based communication business, Australia Post has a natural interest in the promotion of literacy and education.  Education, especially literacy, computer literacy and numeracy underpins a healthy and vibrant society.

By working with National Literacy & Numeracy Week, Australia Post aims to encourage children to get involved in development opportunities to enhance their skills. Informing children using stamps and books, and providing colourful and entertaining educational resources that highlight the value of the written word are intrinsic to Australia Post's community program.

National Literacy and Numeracy Week 2008 (1 - 7 September) encourages schools to participate with activities highlighting the importance of literacy and numeracy.

Australia Post has been a proud sponsor of this program since its inception in 1999. For more information visit www.literacyandnumeracy.gov.au

It also celebrates the work of Australian schools in raising the literacy and numeracy levels of all students. In 2007 a total of 15 schools won a prestigious National Literacy and Numeracy Week Excellence Award, presented to them by the Australian Government. Winning schools can be viewed at http://www.literacyandnumeracy.gov.au/schoolsawards/previous_excellence_award_winners.htm

In recognising the winning schools' achievements, Australia Post presented each school with a framed personalised stamp sheet featuring their school logo. An additional 50 personalised stamp sheets are also provided to each school for their own use. Congratulations to all the winning schools.
